TTI receives new grant funding from the National Lottery Community Fund

TTI is delighted to announce that we have received new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund for a project to address some of the needs of UK based organisations working with traumatised groups amplified by COVID-19.

Covid-19 and lockdown has amplified the mental health challenges faced by traumatised groups, who have survived torture, trafficking, slavery and war, placing huge pressure on the services and staff of the organisations who support them.

With this grant, TTI’s capacity has been enhanced in order to extend our work with 5 partner organisations, over a six month period, to ensure the mental health of staff working with the survivors of organised violence is protected during Covid-19, strengthening their ability to support their clients and work effectively.

Additionally, TTI will offer brief, evidence based, psychological therapy to survivors of organised violence whose emotional distress, is exerting additional pressure on staff and who cannot access support through the NHS.  This will serve the dual purpose of improving the mental health of the beneficiaries whilst awaiting NHS support, as well as the staff who assist them.

Once therapeutic treatment has completed, the staff and clients will have clear referral plans and pathways to ensure they receive the support they need to fully recover either through their employer or the NHS.

TTI have been providing similar organisational support services to specific partners over the last 3 years, but this is the first time we have sought to establish regular referral provision to multiple partners.  We believe there is a significant gap in mental health provision for front-line employees of organisations supporting traumatised individuals and if successful would like to see this programme extended and scaled.
